Generating electricity and warmth from waste and renewable energies, primarily biomass, is an effective tool in combating climate change. In the field of incinerating leftover waste and secondary fuels, R&D is currently focusing on optimising incineration processes. Among other things, work on biomass aims to improve fermenting processes and the use of biogas for energy. Gaining energy from renewable sources such as solar, wind, hydro and geothermal energies is also on the agenda. Focuses are:
- Reduction and capturing of carbon dioxide
- Renewable energy (biomass, bio-gas, pellets, solar energy, wind energy, water energy, fuel cells)
- Thermal disposal, energy conversion
- Secondary fuels
- Secondary raw materials
