Cement Factories and Alternative Fuels. At the Global CemFuels Conference we talk about handling and storage systems.

What have we learned over many years about the use of Alternative Fuels from unsorted municipal solid waste in the cement industry? That they are no longer a pipe dream, but represent a great opportunity for all cement plants to drastically improve their environmental impact, as well as an opportunity for all communities to reduce the amount of waste they send to landfills. Of course, getting quality SRF requires knowing how to properly manage the waste, using mechanical treatments and biodessication. But now the technological solutions are there, they are efficient and cost-effective, as our references well demonstrate.

This is what our CEO Pier Cella Mazzariol will be talking about on Wednesday, September 18 at the 17th Global CemFuels Conference, the largest global conference and exhibition on alternative fuels for the cement industry, which attracts hundreds of representatives and exhibitors from more than 40 countries each year. As Entsorga, we will bring to the table our experiences on alternative fuel handling and storage systems, starting with a series of plants built in recent years, from Indonesia to Romania.

But if the use of alternative fuels is so beneficial, what are still the obstacles that prevent their deployment on a global scale? There are several fronts on which work needs to be done: first of all, the collection system needs to be increased in order to make the best raw material available to processing plants, then an advanced logistics system is needed to bring SRF to cement plants and cement factories that are well equipped to use Alternative Fuels in kilns. Finally, there is a need to work on the socio-cultural aspects, making policy makers at all levels understand how this solution is an undoubted advantage in terms of the environment and reduction of CO2 emissions.
