Handball, 3×3 and Handbike. Entsorga continues its commitment to sports and inclusion.

Alongside the usual contribution offered to associations such as Azalai that promote sports in nature and initiatives aimed at making our places more welcoming and hospitable, the Junior Summer Camp promoted by the Municipality of Casalnoceto to bring young talents closer to soccer, and the partnership with Derthona Basket, which has become one of the protagonists of national sports, in 2024 new associations have been added that strengthen Entsorga’s bond with sports.

Let’s talk about Derthona Handball, a reality strongly rooted in the Tortona area since 1983, whose under-17 section in 2021 was Vice-Champion of Italy while the Under-20 National team was promoted to Serie A2 in 2023 and to Serie A Bronze in 2024, being among other things the youngest as average age. For them now the dream is to get to the A Silver series, to crown a season of great success.

We were then alongside the Tortona Evolution 3×3, a team born 5 years ago from the passion of three young people from Tortona who, in the span of just 5 years, in 2023 won the title of the best team in the Italian ranking and currently, halfway through the championship, is still first in the standings. The 3×3 basketball, a variant of basketball that is played with two formations of 3 players facing each other on one side of the court, is the protagonist of a real championship organized by the Italian Basketball Federation and from 2021 is an Olympic discipline.

With pride this year we will also be alongside the first non-competitive event “Giro Handbike sulle strade di Fausto Coppi,” with departure and arrival from the birthplace of Fausto Coppi – Castellania Coppi ( AL ) scheduled for September 14, 2024 and the first competitive Mediofondo “Inseguendo il Grande Airone “ to be held the following day also with departure and arrival from Coppi’s home. The Handbike is a three-wheeled bicycle designed for those with physical mobility problems, with a very low seat and propelled by arm strength alone. The Handbike ride, of about 40 km, will be free registration for participants with Handicap and only 5 euros for all those equipped with a bicycle who wish to take part, a small contribution that will be donated to the ANFFAS association of Tortona.  The presentation ceremony of this important event dedicated to sport and its value of inclusion was held at La Cittadella dello Sport in Tortona on July 4, during a press conference in which T-shirts made for the occasion were also donated to personalities from the Paralympic, military and civilian worlds in attendance.

During the evening, our president, Pier Paolo Cella Mazzariol, spoke to raise awareness of the entities responsible for the care and maintenance of the area and make it usable and accessible to all, possibly without barriers.
